Columbus, Georgia - [Date TBD] - Christmas is a time of joy, compassion, and giving, and Valley Rescue Mission (VRM) is thrilled to announce its participation in the heartwarming "Toys for Kids" initiative. As a trusted organization serving the Chattahoochee Valley community for over six decades, VRM is dedicated to bringing smiles to the faces of those in need during the holiday season.
"Toys for Kids" is a collaboration supported by numerous organizations, with over 12 organized "toy drives" conducted last year. This year, VRM is taking an active role in providing toys to the men, women, and families served by our ministries.
A significant number of individuals enrolled in VRM programs are experiencing challenging circumstances, including unemployment and limited income. Many have voluntarily committed to up to 12 months in one of VRM's addiction recovery programs to seek physical healing and spiritual transformation. Rob Cartwright, Board Chair of Valley Rescue Mission, emphasized that, ”It would be difficult to find more deserving individuals than the ones in our programs.”
In addition to the men and women in our programs, toys will also be distributed to the women and children residing at the Women and Children's Center. The surplus toys will then be made available in our thrift stores, where 100% of the sales will be reinvested back into VRM ministries, enabling us to continue our mission of serving those in need. "This is a new direction for the Mission," stated Mike Gaymon, president and CEO of Valley Rescue Mission. "The men, women, and their families are critically underprivileged and very thankful that they too will be able to give toys to their children and have something for their families to enjoy during the Christmas season.”
Valley Rescue Mission is deeply grateful for the support of the community, for the many public-private partnerships across the Chattahoochee Valley, and for our dedicated and energetic volunteers who make "Toys for Kids" possible. Together, we are spreading hope and joy, far and wide, during the holidays and beyond.
