COLUMBUS, GA - With temperatures expected to plunge into the 20s next week, Valley Rescue Mission (VRM) will once again open our doors to extend a helping hand to those in need by opening our warming stations on Tuesday 01/16 through Thursday 01/18. We are monitoring the situation, and should the need arise to extend access to the warming stations into the weekend, we will update our website, update our social media channels, and update our media partners as weather models continue to develop.
As part of our commitment to supporting our community during harsh weather conditions, VRM invites individuals seeking refuge from the bitter cold to utilize our warming stations. The warming stations will be open from 6:00PM until 9:00AM.
"We understand the importance of providing a safe and warm place for individuals during the coldest days of the year," said Mike Gaymon, CEO and president of Valley Rescue Mission. "Our warming stations offer a respite from the cold, allowing those in need to stay warm and safe.”
Guests at VRM's warming stations will find a comfortable and sheltered environment, offering warmth and a reprieve from the biting cold. We encourage community members to check on their neighbors, particularly the elderly and vulnerable, to ensure everyone has a safe place to stay during this winter weather.
